DOCUMENT RETENTION

The owners corporation is obliged by the legislation to keep certain documents for a period of 5 years. This section of the report will indicate whether those obligations are being complied with. Minutes of meetings of the owners corporation and its executive committee should be kept indefinitely. If records are not being kept this could be an indicator that the owners corporation is either:
• not being properly managed; or
• “hiding” something.
